CANTON An Ogdensburg native has taken on the position of Zone 2 Commander after working in Massena and Ray Brook.
Capt. Michael Girard is replacing Capt. David E. Chauvin,
I have complete faith in him, Troop B Commander Maj. Richard Smith said. He brings a wealth of experience.
Capt. Girard has also worked through conversations with high-federal law enforcement, Maj. Smith said.
Capt. Girard will be in charge of traffic enforcement and sharing services. He will also be the commanding of all major crimes in St. Lawrence County, Maj. Smith said.
Capt. Chauvins retirement becomes official May 30.
Capt. Chauvin served the state police for 31 years and over 20 years as a zone commander.
