ALBANY - Ogdensburg native and former OFA athletic standout, Shelby (Spriggs) Wears, a member of the Class of 2006 at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was inducted into the Dean Professor White Athletic Hall of Fame on April 15. Wears was honored for her outstanding achievements as a member of the schools Womens Soccer program from 2000-2005.
A dominate offensive force for the Panthers, Wears, finished her career at Albany Pharmacy as the second all time leading scorer in the program history. She scored 79 goals and added 39 assists in her tenure and was a team leader and captain for her final three seasons.
Wearswas named to the Northern Independence Conference All Conference First team all five years, an amazing accomplishment for any athlete.
From her first day as a member of the Panthers Womens Soccer program, Wears displayed her talents and even as a freshman was a top player for the 2000 team that finished 12-1 and claimed the NIC Championship.
In 2002, Wears, again helped lead the team to the NIC title and was named the teams Most Valuable Player.
Her best statistical game came in the 2002 season as she scored four goals in a victory over Bard College which at the time tied the school record for goals in a game. In 2004, Wears was named the Teams MVP during her final season.
Wears currently lives i n Virginia with her husband Tommy Wears, another former OFA standout athlete and their son Owen.
