RALEIGH, N.C. - Abby Cook finished fifth in open equitation over the fences to clinch the sixth national championship for SLU, and first since the 1980s, at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Championship in Raleigh, N.C.
SLU finished with 31 points in the three-day event and Skidmore was second with 24.

SAINTS fall
TROY Gillian McCarthy doubled with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in two runs as the Rensselaer softball team defeated St. Lawrence University 4-3 Saturday, eliminating the Saints from the Liberty League Tournament.
SLU (20-13) had stayed alive in the double-elimination event by defeating Union College 5-4 earlier in the day.
Sara Heller went 3-for-3 for RPI (26-13) and McCarthy, Jocilyn Rudisill and Caitlin McGivern each supplied two hits. Lauren Weisbarth and Leslie Stratton both had two hits for the Saints.
Aisha OConnor and Chelsea Cavellier each produced three hits against Union for SLU and Kyle Plipmton struck out eight. Lauren Hoffman, Alyssa Wolejcko, Allyson Staats and Amanda Blake each had two hits for Union (20-18).
BASEBALL
ST. LAWRENCE 11-4, CLARKSON 6-5
Khifer OConnor and Paul Piatelli each went 3-for-5 in the opening game of a Liberty League doubleheader as the Saints (24-12, 17-8) split with Clarkson in Potsdam.
St. Lawrence is a half-game behind RPI (18-8) in the conference standings and could host next weekends conference tournament if it finishes in first place.
Carter Franz had two hits for SLU, which hosts Clarkson in another doubleheader today. Jerry Coleman supplied two hits for Clarkson in the opener.
Peter-Jon Clarke went 3-for-4 for the Golden Knights (18-19, 12-14) in the second game and David Wixted and Dan Padrazo each supplied two hits. Bryan Palermo and OConnor each had two hits in game two for SLU.
