BRASHER IRON WORKS — Mrs. Marie J. Heath, 83, passed away Friday evening, May 4, 2012 at the Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 2002.

Marie was born November 15, 1928 in Brasher, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth Mitchell Burnell. She attended Brasher rural schools. On April 4, 1953, she married Harry E. Heath in Glenmont, NY; he predeceased her on April 19, 1968.

Marie was a homemaker who truly loved to socialize and visit with any and everyone. When she was younger, she was an avid bowler having received many trophies.She was a devout Catholic and truly believed in her faith.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Donna “Pepper” Heath of Brasher Falls; her two grandchildren, Ricky and Nikki Heath, both of Brasher; her brother, Ralph Burnell of Brasher Iron Works; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by an infant son, William Heath on October 17, 1956; her sister, Thelma Jackson on February 11, 2003; and her brother, Bernard “Lucky” Burnell on December 21, 2000.

Friends may call Monday 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Garry B. Giroux, officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Brasher Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Highland Nursing Home Activities Fund, the Massena Memorial Hospital, or a local Humane Society.
