CARTHAGE A benefit is planned for today for Michael A. Mahan, who is undergoing treatment for stage four head and neck cancer.
According to his wife, Lisa J., the tumor was caused by the human papillomavirus.
Mr. Mahan is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy weekly and radiation five times a week in Syracuse in order to shrink the tumor so it can be removed.
Mr. Mahans brother, Gregory J. Mahan, and his fiancée, Tracey L. Muncy, are organizing the benefit to help with medical and travel expenses.
The benefit will feature live entertainment from FFOG and Tough Luck. There will also be food available, raffles for merchandize and 50-50 drawings. Among the items to be raffled are a Pandora bracelet from Henry Wilson Jewelers and a computer desk from Masseys.
There is a $3 admission to the event set for 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Carthage Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7227, 668 West End Ave. Anyone wishing to donate for the raffle should call 788-1995. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation to the Mahans should send it to them at 228 N. Clinton St., Carthage, N.Y. 13619.
