JCC was selected as one of 120 community colleges nationwide to compete for $1 million from the Aspen Institutes College Excellence Program.
The 120 colleges were chosen based on performance and graduation rates, degrees awarded, student retention and student outcome equity.
We are excited about the opportunity to compete for the Aspen Institute Prize, said JCC President Carole A. McCoy in a released statement. Being selected as one of the top 10 percent of all community colleges is wonderful validation of the outstanding work done by our faculty and staff to help our students succeed.
Other New York community colleges competing are Broome, CUNY Kingsborough, Finger Lakes, Genesee and Hudson Valley.
The winner will be announced next March.
