Kevin T. Maguire, 24, of 21577 Pork Hill Road, was charged Sunday night by state police with driving while under the influence of drugs in connection with an early morning accident on Sandy Creek Valley Road in the town of Watertown.

He is also cited with failure to use a designated lane. Town of Watertown Justice Andrew N. Capone set bail at $1,000, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

Police said the accident occurred at about 5:40 a.m. Sunday, when his car went off the pavement near Van Allen Road, struck a wooden bridge, overturned, and then hit a tree. He was admitted to Samaritan Medical Center, and was discharged in the evening.
