POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Brad A. Cordwell, 36, of Potsdam with driving while intoxicated following a one-car personal injury accident at 9:48 p.m. Monday on the Baker Road in the town Potsdam.

Troopers said Cordwell was operating a 1998 GMC Yukon in a southwesterly direction on Baker Road when the vehicle went off the northwest side of the road, struck a tree and then overturned.

Cordwell was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Potsdam Rescue Squad for treatment of lacerations to his face, head and legs. He was also ticketed forspeed not reasonable and prudent.

Cordwell is scheduled to appear May 17 in Potsdam Town Court.
