POTSDAM - George Lavigne has been named general manager of the Clarkson Inn in Potsdam.
He replaces longtime general manager Peggy Snell, who retired earlier this year.
Mr. Lavigne has more than 25 years of hotel and resort management experience. He has worked in hotels around the world, including Bora Bora, the Dominican Republic, and France. He is also a master chef with training at some of the top restaurants in France, as well as in the palace of the Shah of Iran.
I am very happy to be part of this vibrant university community,Mr. Lavigne said. I look forward to building on the already excellent guest experience at the Clarkson Inn and introducing some exciting new amenities for both our new and longtime guests.
Lavigne is a certified hotel administrator of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.
The Clarkson Inn, located at 1 Main St. in Potsdam, is operated by J.R. Weston Inc., a for-profit, tax-paying subsidiary of Clarkson University. Profits from J.R. Weston provide scholarships to Clarkson students.
