Lawrence Avenue students honor school secretaries

POTSDAM - The Lawrence Avenue K-Kids spent their meeting this past week to prepare flowers to present to the secretaries at the elementary school.

Each K-Kid member presented a flower and card to the secretaries at the main office, BOCES office and work room. The K-Kids ended up planting 16 flower bulbs for the secretaries to share. There were four secretaries in the elementary school, so each secretary received four flowers.

The Kids planted bulbs in small plastic cups to be started and when the flowers bloomed, the secretary could either re-plant them at their house, or transfer them to a larger flower pot.

This is just one of the many projects the K-Kids have been and will be engaged in. For the remaining few weeks of school, the K-Kids will be working on Hospice donations, Potsdam Animal Shelter donations, gifts for mom and dad for their day in May and June, a tour of downtown Potsdam in appreciation of Emergency Services Appreciation week, election of officers, as well as the Installation of Officers/Awards Day and Cubley Park Clean Up. This year K-Kids have donated money to several organizations, made items for Hospice and the animal shelter, collected food for Potsdam Neighborhood Center, as well as the Thanksgiving baskets and so on.

The Lawrence Avenue K-Kids meet at 3:15 p.m. Thursdays in the small cafeteria. For more information, please feel free to contact Carla Ingram at challenge741@yahoo.com. The K-Kids have their own website at www.laekkids.webs.com .
