At about 7:30 a.m., Gouverneur firefighters responded to the Greg Washburn residence at 1545 Leadmine Road where propane tanks had just exploded, according to Fire Chief Steve Young.
Mr. Young said the fire was threatening two other structures before it was doused. He said no one was injured.
According to investigators, a family dog died in the fire. A garage and a Ford Focus was also destroyed.
Investigators also said the home was insured.
