POTSDAM - The Potsdam Central varsity track teams settled for a split at home against Canton in the lone NAC meet staged on Thursday.
BOYS MEET
Due to cold and damp conditions both the boys and girls meets were reduced to 14 events with officials agreeing not to run the 3,200, the 3,000 and the 1,600 relays. The Sandstoner boys scored wins in all 14 en route to downing the Bears 142-60.
Joe Bartlett was the lone competitor to notch a pair of individual firsts, leading the 110 hurdles in 20.2 seconds and the high jump at 52. Eleven different Sandstoners generated the other wins; Oden Robertson in the 100 with a time of 11.4 seconds, Ethan Kelly in the 1,600 with a time of 5:16.7, Jacob Moose in the long jump at 17, Tyler Belleau in the 400 with a time of 57.4 seconds, Peter Clark in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:11, Ethan Vinson in the 800 with a time of 2:11.8, Tom Hobbs in the 200 with a time of 26.6 seconds, Spencer Neaton in the triple jump at 345, Ifem Ononye in the shot put at 3711.25 and Aaron Chandler in the discus at 100.
Kelly, Vinson and Clark also combined with Sam Lee to pace the 3,200 relay in 9:33. The foursome of Belleau, Ononye, Neaton and Hobbs captured the 400 relay in 49.4 seconds.
GIRLS MEET
In the girls meet, Maddie Dreschel accounted for the only Potsdam wins of the meet as Canton came away with a 169-111 decision. Dreschel led the 100 in 13.7 seconds and the 200 in 29.5 seconds. She also finished second in the long jump. Kalli Bartlett was the next leading scorer for the Lady Sandstoners, placing second in the 100 and third in both the 400 and 200.
