Salmon River, SLC, Potsdam Central laxmen notch NAC home wins


Salmon River, St. Lawrence Central and Potsdam all netted NAC varsity boys lacrosse wins on their home field on Thursday.

Salmon River 14, OFA 1: In Fort Covington, the Shamrocks rattled off six unanswered goals in the first quarter and never looked back for their 11th win in 11 tries.

Ky Tarbell led the way offensively with four goals and an assist. Austin Cavender (2 assists) and Mason Hemlock (1 assist) netted two goals apiece while Roweren Lazore, Trenton Tarbell, Kason Tarbell, Oakley Thomas, Lawrence Jock and Tylar Thomas all struck for singletons,

Trey Lawrence broke through for OFA’s only goal in the third quarter.

Chris George (9 saves) and Randy Peters (1 save) shared crease duties in the win while Spencer Lawrence recorded 19 stops for OFA (3-10, 2-9).

The Shamrocks, now 10-0 alone atop the NAC standings, are slated to host Potsdam on Saturday at 11 a.m.

SLC 17, Massena 7: In Brasher Falls, the Larries outscored the Raiders 8-2 in the second quarter to open a 10-4 halftime lead before going on to avenge a loss to the Raiders. Marshall Burninghausen sparked the winning attack with six goals and an assist. Nate Cole (6 assists) and Dalton Lottie (4 assists) struck for three goals apiece while Lukas Arquiett and Ian Lynch each broke through for a pair and Logan White netted a singleton. Blake Baldwin contributed three assists toward the win.

Sako Rourke and Rhoades Tarbell collected two goals apiece in the losing effort. Jordy Mitchell (3 assists), Grayson Phillips (2 assists) and Noah Ransom had the other Massena goals while Zack Hopps logged a solo assist.

Kody Kocsis made seven saves backstopping the win while Kyle Cook stood tall working the Massena crease for 21 saves.

The Larries (8-4, 7-3) return to action on Saturday on the road against Canton 1 p.m. Massena (8-5, 6-5) is slated to host Saranac Lake today starting at 4:30 p.m.

Potsdam 7, Colton-Pierrepont 2: Under the lights of their home turf, the Sandstoners built a 3-1 lead in the first quarter the outscored the Colts 3-0 in the second half to claim the low-scoring win.

Kyle Kingsley and Stephen Lewis netted two goals apiece in the winning effort. A.J. Landi, Nate Carey and Drew Quenneville struck for the other goals while Jason Cardinal (7 saves) and Chase Palmer (2 saves) combined to work the crease.

Dustin Andrus and Gyle Dominy broke through for the C-P goals while Craig Miller blocked 12 shots backstopping the loss.

The Sandstoners (8-5, 7-4) play at Salmon River on Saturday at 1 p.m. while the Colts (0-12, 0-10) play host to Saranac Lake starting at 11 a.m.

Canton 12, Saranac Lake 2: In the other NAC game on Thursday at Saranac Lake, the Bears worked their way to a 6-1 halftime lead as Jesse Gilbert netted five goals and Jack Elberty logged four assists. Eb Foote finished with a pair of goals while Jeff Hammond, Alex Sosebee and Nate Gibson made one save each sharing time between the pipes as the Bears moved to 10-3 overall and 9-2 in the NAC.

Mike Burpoe made 13 saves working the crease for the Red Storm (1-9).
