A Syracuse man was arrested Friday morning after city police said he was involved in an incident in which held a woman against her will, sexually assaulted her and threw bleach on her.
Police said they got involved in the incident about 9 a.m. after 911 got several calls about a woman screaming and being chased by a man along the 100 block of Keyes Avenue.
The man, Christopher E. Hickey, 22, of 418 Turtle St., fled the scene on a CitiBus, but was later caught after getting off a bus at Pratt Street and Ball Avenue and taking off on foot.
After running between houses, police apprehended him behind a residence in the 100 block of Flower Avenue W.
Mr. Hickey was subsequently charged with unlawful imprisonment, third-degree assault and forcible touching, police said. He was arraigned in Watertown City Court Friday afternoon and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $5,000 bail.
The unidentified woman suffered bloodied, swollen lips and smelled of bleach when police talked to her about what happened, they said. No other information was available about her condition on Friday.
