POTSDAM - The Potsdam Central golf team improved to 5-1 with a 213-251 NAC Division I win over Franklin Academy at the Potsdam Town and Country Club on Friday.
Mike Chambers paced the Sandstoner with a 41 on the par 36, back nine at PTCC. Ben Stone chipped in a 42 while Dan Cruikshank and Konnor Bigwarfe each shot 43s and Dustin LaValley a 44. Dan Stone shot a non-scoring 49.
For the Huskies, Evan Hanna posted the low round of 44 followed by Elliott Vanier with a 47, Cole Depuy with a 51, Davis Sprague with a 53 and Alexandra Sprague with a 56. Dylan Fleury carded a non-scoring 62.
The Sandstoners will get set to host Gouverneur next Wednesday at 3 p.m. before closing out the regular season next Friday at Massena.
Massena 224, Gouverneur 273: In a match on Wednesday at the Gouverneur Country Club, Hunter Francis led the Raiders with a 42. Jayden Wood posted a 43 that included a birdie on 14 followed by Kendrick Swamp with a 45 (birdie on 16). Brendon Dobbins and Tyler Nevill each finished at 47 while Dakota Tarbell had a non-scoring 49.
Shooting for Gouverneur were Eugene Bishop (49), Cody Bishop (49), Alex Prespare (55), Cole Newvine (57), Kacy Barley (63) and Cade Stevens (63).
The other Division I match on Friday saw OFA beat Gouverneur 217-258.
At the newly-developed Gilbert Greens in the Town of Oswegatchie, Norwood-Norfolk moved two steps closer to claiming the Division II regular season banner after sweeping a tri-match against host Heuvelton (5-0) and Tupper Lake (4-1).
The top four Flyer golfers all won both their matches - Nick Stewart (44), Ryan Thomas (43), Cole Davey (44) and Anthony Mossow (42) while Kyle Bond shot a 59 in settling for a splt in the fifth group.
Shooting for the host Bulldogs were Tyhler Otis (48, birdie on 2), Jacob St. Pierre (51), Jack Tennant (45, birdie on 2), Will Tennant (54) and Lucas Harper (63).
Competing for Tupper Lake, which clipped Heuvelton 3-2 to earn a split on the day, were Ryan Amell (48), Ricky LaLonde (47), Rob LaLonde (49), Colton Clark (53) and Ben Geiger (55).
Now 11-0 heading into the final week of the regular season, the Flyers are slated to face Brushton-Moira at Highland Greens on Monday.
In another Division II meet on Friday, Brushton-Moira beat both Edwards-Knox and Clifton-Fine 5-0.
