SYRACUSE - Conley’s Rental Management, Watertown, was honored last Friday with an SBA Small Business Excellence Award at the DoubleTree Hotel in East Syracuse. The U.S. Small Business Administration and the New York Business Development Corporation hosted the 14th annual luncheon to recognize the achievements of local small businesses.

The NYS Watertown Small Business Development Center nominated Conley’s Rental Management,owned by Michael Siptrott. In 2005, Siptrott worked with the Watertown SBDC to start his rental and property maintenance business. Three years later he was ready to expand with a real estate broker business and purchase a building. Again, with the guidance of the SBDC he was able to develop projections and a plan that enabled him to obtain financing from two local banks and the Watertown Local Development Corporation. Since then the company has shown steady sales growth, with a 79 percent increase in 2009 and an 85 percent increase the following year.
