Itll be Friday, fun and free in Ogdensburg this summer for children looking to entertain themselves.
The city parks and recreation department will sponsor Fun Fridays on July 6, 13, 20 and 27 inside and on the grounds of the Dobisky Center, 100 Riverside Ave. The free program is targeted at children ages 4 to 6.
Parks and Recreation Director Matthew J. Curatolo said the program may eventually include other age groups if it is successful enough.
We may expand it, he said. Well see how it goes.
The activities will include ball games outside on the Dobisky Center grounds. Inside, the emphasis will be on arts and crafts, board games and other fare. The aim, according to Mr. Curatolo, is to keep the kids in this specific age group busy and entertained.
It keeps them active, he said. Gets them outside.
The Friday program is one of three so-called special events that the department is putting on this summer. The others are:
■ Free arts and craft shows June 25 to Aug. 2 at Grove, Hamilton and Library parks and Belmont Courts. Drawing, painting and building will be offered to children age 3 to 12 years old.
■ The second annual Sandbar Classic Fishing Derby on July 22 during Seaway Festival week. There will be categories for bass, perch, walleye and pike.
