MASSENA After falling behind by three runs in the top of the first inning, the Massena baseball team went on to defeat Ogdensburg Free Academy, 8-3, in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game on Friday.
Jake Kormanyos settled down after the rough start and pitched the rest of the game, giving up just two more hits to the Blue Devils (4-2 overall, 1-2 division).
Jake Ward led Massena (11-1, 5-0) going 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Brandon Arsenault and Jon Tayler each produced two hits for OFA.
POTSDAM 7, MALONE 4
Ben Miller struck out eight to lead Potsdam past the Huskies (8-2, 2-2) in a Central Division game in Malone.
Trevor Keleher had two hits for the Sandstoners (6-2, 2-2). Alex Johnson paced Malone with two hits, including a triple.
CHATEAUGAY 4-1, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 1-3
Joe McGillicuddy threw a one-hitter and struck out eight as Chateaugay defeated the Panthers (5-2, 5-1) in the opening game of an East Division doubleheader in Parishville.
Parishville-Hopkinton responded by defeating the Bulldogs (3-4, 2-3) in game two.
Garrett LaBare had two hits for Chateaugay in the opener. Mike Burns had the only hit for the Panthers in game one and was the winning pitcher in game two, striking out six.
ST. REGIS FALLS 10-9, EDWARDS-KNOX 4-7
After going winless in their first five games, the Saints swept Edwards-Knox (1-6, 0-5) in an East Division doubleheader in St. Regis Falls.
Kyle Cox led St. Regis Falls (2-5) going 3-for-3, including two doubles, in the opener. Ian Wood struck out nine for the Saints.
Michael Fraser and Codi Church each had two hits for St. Regis Falls in game two.
HEUVELTON 25, HERMON-DEKALB 3
Aaron Cobb went 5-for-6, including a double, as Heuvelton crushed the Demons (0-6) in a West Division game in DeKalb Junction.
Mike Guardino went 4-for-6 for the Bulldogs (10-1, 7-1).
Matt Guardino and Cody Holland each produced three hits for Heuvelton.
LISBON 10, CLIFTON-FINE 3
Nevin LaRock had three singles for the Golden Knights in a West Division win over Clifton-Fine in Lisbon.
David Turri and Adam Kelly each singled twice for Lisbon (3-5, 2-3).
Mike Rust led the Eagles (2-6, 1-5) with two hits.
GOUVERNEUR 5, ST. LAWRENCE 2
Cody Woods did not give up a hit until the sixth inning and struck out nine to lead the Wildcats past St. Lawrence Central (1-8) in a nonleague game in Gouverneur.
Michael Lucidi went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for Gouverneur (2-6).
