FISHCAPs second annual Wounded Warriors Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 23 on the St. Lawrence River, and the group is asking for area anglers and boaters from Morristown to Massena to volunteer their time and their boats to help give heroes from Fort Drum a great day of bass fishing.
Last years event was fantastic for everyone, said organizer and FISHCAP board member Air Force Bob Giordano, in great part due to the overwhelming support we had from local veterans and anglers. This year, were hoping for that support again.
Giordano said FISHCAP needs boats 15-feet or longer that can accommodate at least two Wounded Warrior anglers, and has all safety equipment, rods, reels and tackle for the visitors. Each boat owner will receive a $50 gas coupon.
Volunteers are needed on land, as well, at the tournament site in Ogdensburg. FISHCAP is hoping to bring up to 30 Wounded Warriors and their families to St. Lawrence County for the day, and will be providing food, prizes, and special activities for spouses and children.
Boats will be launched from the Ogdensburg Marina at 7:30 a.m. on the 23rd, and return at 3:30 p.m. Weigh-in will be at 4 p.m.
Those who want to volunteer their boats for the day, or their time, should call or email Giordano at 315-600-7533. email@example.com.
FISHCAP is the St. Lawrence County based initiative designed to promote the St. Lawrence River Valley as the fishing capital of the world. FISHCAPs first event was the Wounded Warrior Tournament held last June.
