CANTON - Riding a three goal start in the first seven minutes, the Canton Boys Lacrosse team celebrated Lacrosse Alumni Weekend and the naming of the 2012 Josh Ayrassian Memorial Award winner with a commanding 17-7 win over St. Lawrence Central in Northern Athletic Conference Lacrosse play.
Jack Eiberty will succeed Eb Foote as next years receipent of the Number 3 Jersey, Ayrassians number in high school. The school and family didnt want to retire the number but make it a special number for a player who displays leadership on and off the field that Ayrassian gave to his Bears during his playing days.
Eiberty recorded five assists in Saturdays win over the Larries where Canton led 9-3 at halftime.
We just came out today with a lot of fire, said Canton Coach Tim Youngs. It was a great day today. We had a lot of the Ayrassian family and several alumnus.
Mike Mathews generated five goals and one assist to pace the Bears (11-3, 10-2). Eb Foote produced four goals while Brandon Rodee added three goals and one assist.Tanner Sanderson (1-1), Frederick Rexford (1-0), Payton VanBibber (1-0), and Jesse Gibert (1-3) all contributed as Jeff Hammond made nine saves.
Nate Cole scored four goals and posted an assist for St. Lawrence (8-5, 7-4). Marshall Beringhausen scored two goals and collected two assists and Zach Baldwin posted a goal and two assists for the Larries. Kody Kocsis made 14 saves for SLC.
Saranac Lake 7, Colton-Pierrepont 5: Jacob Merrill made nine saves to spark the Red Storm (2-10, 2-10) past the Colts (0-13, 0-11) at Colton.
Josh Trembley generated three goals and one assists, Jeff Stevens collected two goals and one assists and Chandler Gach scored a goal and posted an assist to lead Saranac Lake. Kevin Duguay also scored.
Gyle Dominy scored two goals and drew an assist for Colton-Pierrepont. Dustin Andrus added two goals while Mike Murray connected for a goal and one assist. Craig Miller had 19 saves in net.
Salmon River 18, Potsdam 5: The Shamrocks (12-0, 11-0) used a fast start and a well balanced effort to defeat the Stoners (8-6, 7-5) in Fort Covington as Ky Tarbell generated three goals and five assists, Dalston Day tallied three goals and three assists and Kason Tarbell collected three goals and one assist to lead the way. Seth Oakes and Lakota Square each scored twice for Salmon River which led 8-2 after the first quarter.
Adam Bomberry chipped in a goal and two assists while Kyle Lewis, Kamm David, Sky Sunday and Russ Oakes all recorded solo markers as Kobi Johnson made five saves and Randy Peters handled four saves in the win.
Kyle Grant scored twice for Potsdam, Garrett Kilgore, Matt Sutliff and Drew Quennville each scored once. Chase Palmer made 6 saves.
Massena 11, OFA 2: The Raiders (9-5, 8-5) took command early scoring four goals in the first quarter and made it 6-0 at half against the visiting OFA (3-12, 2-11 NAC).
Zach Hopps generated three goals and three assists for Massena. Grayson Phillips added two goals and three assists while Jordy Mitchell and Rhoades Tarbell added a goal and two assists. Noah Ransom, Josh Blair, Brendan Broderick and Tyler Simms all scored once.
Jake Garrison scored twice with assists going to Joey Kiah and Jordan McCormick for OFA. Kyle Cook stopped 11 shots for Massena and Dylan Stone added one save in the fourth quarter.
Spencer Lawerence made 12 saves for OFA.
Indian River 12, Potsdam 9: Paige Fayette accounted for five goals and one assist in the Warriors nonleague victory over the Sandstoners. Katie Brierton pitched in with three goals and two assists for Indian River (6-8).Keeley Rice registered six goals and one assist for Potsdam (6-6).
South Jeff 13, Massena 6: Morgan Alexander finished with three goals and one assist in the Spartans nonleague victory over the Red Raiders at Adams.Erin Francis supplied two goals and one assist for Massena (10-3).
