Clare E. Young


GREIG — Clare E. Young, 87, of Brantingham Road, Greig, died Saturday, May 12, 2012.

Mrs. Young was born October 5, 1924, at home in the Town of New Bremen, New York, a daughter of the late Wesley and Mary Bush Bockenheim. She graduated from Father Leo Memorial School. On September 24, 1946, she married Stanley H. Young Jr. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in Denmark from 1946 to 1971, before moving to the Brantingham area. Mrs. Young worked in the housekeeping department at the Lewis County General Hospital from 1975 - 1988.

She is survived by nine children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Tom Polarolo of New Hartford; Geraldine and Michael Woolschlager of Lowville, New York; Elaine Young of Greig; Janet and Stephen Roberts of Prospect, Connecticut; Janice and Paul Kampnich of Croghan; Bruce and Susan Young of Brantingham; Joyce and Rod Mallette of Brantingham; Charles Young of Glenfield; James and Cynthia Young of Lyons Falls; a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Winifred Buckingham of Croghan; a sister, Martha Campany of Lowville; 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her siblings, Mary Edwards, Margaret Kuhl, Louis and Claude Bockenheim, Dorothy Bockenheim, twin sisters, Arletha Bockenheim and Anita Yousey.

Mrs. Young was of the Roman Catholic faith. A Latin Tridentine Mass will be said at Noon on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Matthew Newman, Congregation of St. Pias V, Round Top, NY, officiating. Burial will follow in Brantingham Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Clare’s name to Congregation of St. Pias V, Immaculate Heart Seminary, P.O. Box 56, Round Top, NY, 12473.
