RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT - WEST STOCKHOLM - Canton-based state police charged Shawn B. Mossow, 25, of Norfolk with first-degree reckless endangerment following an incident reported at 5:39 p.m. Sunday from the West Stockholm-Southville Road in the town of Stockholm. Troopers said he was arraigned and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

According to state police, Mossow was in the woods with a friend when he discharged a firearm, shooting his friend, who was not identified by police, in the leg.

Troopers said their initial investigation revealed that the 24-year-old male victim from Norfolk had been asking his friend, Mossow, to shoot him in the leg so he would know what it feels like. Mossow told troopers he finally relented to the victim’s request and shot him once in the right leg with a .22 caliber rifle. The victim was treated at Canton/Potsdam Hospital and then transferred to Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vermont, for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the right leg and is expected to make a full recovery.
