Michael S. Hill, 32, of 159 Mechanic St., is being held without bail in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building after being named as an accomplice in a shoplifting incident on May 3 at Kohl’s, 21110 Pioneer Plaza, where an employee was injured.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department charged him Friday with second-degree robbery and petit larceny. He was arraigned in town of Watertown Court.

The employee, Rachel D. Smith, suffered an elbow injury while attempting to stop the alleged shoplifting of merchandise priced at $148, according to the sheriff’s office.

Nichole M. Bell, 21, of 116 Keyes Ave., Apt. 4, was initially arrested in the case on the same charges, and remains jailed under $10,000 bail.

Mr. Hill has twice served prison sentences. He was convicted of fourth-degree grand larceny in May 1999 and was discharged from a sentence in January 2004. A conviction for fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property in 2006 brought a sentence that concluded in December 2010, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision website.
