MASSENA - Approximately 120 fifth and sixth grade students from Madison, Jefferson and Nightengale elementary schools in Massena competed in the sixth annual Massena Elementary Spring Robotics Celebration recently.
These students comprised 27 teams which each designed, built, and programmed a robot to accomplish missions to earn points following the FIRST Lego League rules and guidelines.
The students worked several afternoons each week from March through May preparing for this annual event at their respective schools coached by Darcie Fregoe (Madison), Nicole Gladding (Jefferson) and Bill Lint (Nightengale).
This program encourages and entices students to take science, technology, engineering and math concepts they are learning in the classroom and put them to work in an exciting and fun atmosphere.
