RUSSELL - Jacob Barney generated a double and a single leading Madrid-Waddington to a 7-3 win over Edwards-Knox in the lone NAC East Division varsity baseball action on Wednesday.
Zach Brock pitched the win striking out five and allowing eight scattered hits. Greg Thompson and Austin Scott connected for two singles each while Jacob Mayette, Alex Brock, and Terry Crump lined a single for the winners who improved to 8-2, 7-1 in the NAC East.
Dereck Clark and Chris Davison each ripped two singles for E-K (2-9, 1-8 NAC East). Kaden Dandrow stroked a triple while Nick Davison, Tyler Sharpstene, and Terry Hall all singled.
Takumni took the loss.
The other NAC baseball matchups on Wednesday saw OFA stop Central Division rival Gouverneur 6-1 and Hammond rallied for an 8-7 West Division win over Lisbon.
OFA 6, Gouverneur 1: In Gouverneur, Alex Farrell pitched the complete game victory, limiting the Wildcats to seven scattered hits, three walks and a run in the seventh inning while fanning six batters.
Brendan Arsenault recorded a 3-4 effort with two doubles and an RBI to lead the OFA offense and Andrew Cole tripled and doubled with an RBI out of the ninth spot in the batting order. Andrew LeBeau doubled and singled, Kinnon LaRose and Seth Pinkerton each stroked RBI singles and Konnor Murdock singled.
Cody Woods (2-4), Matt Ashley (2-4 RBI), and Hunter Ayen (2-3) paced Gouverneur.
