AKWESASNE – Mrs. Marie G. White, 68, of 71 Laughing Road, passed away Tuesday evening, May 15, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born June 22, 1943 in St. Regis, Quebec, the daughter of the late George and Margaret Delormiere George. She graduated from Salmon River Central School, where she recently celebrated her 50th class reunion. She also graduated from a business school in Albany. On October 29, 1966, she married Stuart E. White at the St. Regis Catholic Church.
Marie worked as a secretary for the Arizona Department of Transportation and the New York State Department of Transportation in Rochester. After returning the reservation, she worked for Vaughn Aldrich. Marie truly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time watching different sporting events, doing puzzles and crosswords, traveling with her husband to their home in Phoenix, and was also an avid bingo player. Marie may best be known for her philanthropy to many, many charitable organizations.
Marie will be sadly missed by her husband, Stuart; her three children, Susan Jesmer of Akwesasne and her husband, David of Long Sault, Ontario; Julie White-Rodger and her husband, Michael of Long Sault, Ontario; and Shane White of Massena; her beloved grandchildren, Alex, Meagan, Erin, and Scott Jesmer and Greyson and Ariel Rodger; her great grandchildren, Wyatt Jesmer and Peyton Jesmer-Thompson; and she was anxiously awaiting the birth of her third great grandchild, Hailey Jessmer-Thompson.
She will also be missed by her two sisters, Lorraine George and Diane and Eugene King, all of Akwesasne; her three brothers, Thomas and Lucille George of Victor, NY; Michael and Barbara George and Robert and Anna Delormiere, all of Akwesasne; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Shirley George.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Thursday, 4-7 PM and Friday 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 2:00 PM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jack L. Downs, celebrating.
