Watertown police found a wanted woman, and crack cocaine, when officers went to an apartment on State Street on Wednesday night to serve a warrant.
Kellie L. Belcher, 29, Dexter, was wanted on a violation of probation warrant, police said. They found her in the apartment of Michael J. Moote, 45, of 803 State St., Apt. 4. On an end table in the apartment, officers said, they saw a substance that they later determined to be crack cocaine.
The two were cited with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and Ms. Belcher was taken into custody on the probation warrant.
She was sentenced in 2007 to probation for second-degree offering a false instrument for filing in a welfare fraud investigation, and subsequently was sent to jail for five months for violating probation. This new probation violation likely involves a different conviction, but no other details were available Thursday morning.
