WEST CARTHAGE Two people suffered neck pains following a four-car pileup Wednesday afternoon at the traffic light at Route 26 and Cole Road in the town of Champion, according to state police.
The accident occurred at 4 p.m. when Justin M. Widrick, 21, of 10429 Route 126, Castorland, passed a southbound motorcyclist, failing to notice that vehicles ahead were stopping for a red light, police said. He was cited with following too close and passing on the right.
Police said the Widrick auto hit the rear of a car operated by Lee E. LaPlante, 32, Route 812, Lowville, which was pushed into a sedan driven by Angela M. Niger, 22, Harpers Terrace, Carthage. An auto operated by Heidi E. Aubin, 42, County Route 53, Watertown, was then struck by the Niger vehicle.
Ms. Niger was taken to Carthage Area Hospital for treatment, while David Aubin, in the Heidi Aubin car, declined treatment, police said.
