The Watertown City Council has set a pair of executive sessions to discuss the search for a city manager.
Council members will meet behind closed doors at 4:30 p.m. today and at noon Saturday to continue their discussions.
Neither session is to interview candidates, Councilwoman Teresa R. Macaluso said, adding that she and her colleagues are working cooperatively on the hiring.
“We’re making good progress,” she said. “I’m surprised how well it’s going.”
She said council members are at the point where they wanted to be now, after meeting about a half-dozen times in executive session to find a replacement for former City Manager Mary M. Corriveau. Mrs. Corriveau left in April after about nine years in the position and nearly 27 years of service with the city.
Council members received 38 resumes from candidates interested in the position and were generally satisfied with the quality of the applicants.
