Massena man charged with harassing girlfriend’s daughter

HARASSMENT - MASSENA - A Massena man was released under the supervision of the probation department after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend’s daughter by the arms when a verbal altercation turned physical.

Village police charged Dennis J. Kemison, 33, of 227 Barnhart Road, Massena, with second-degree harassment and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child at 1:43 p.m. Monday after police responded to a complaint in front of 228 Barnhart Road.

Amanda Savage said she had gone to a friend’s apartment at 228 Barnhart Road at 1:15 p.m. Monday and then had visited with her mother, who was on the front porch at 227 Barnhart. She said as she was preparing to leave Kemison emerged from the apartment and said something rude to her. She acknowledged she had issues with Kemsion in the past.

Savage told police she exchanged words with Kemison, and Raymond Perkins, a nighbor, attempted to separate her from her mother’s boyfriend.

But she said Kemison reached around Perkins and grabbed her by the arms before raising a fist like he was going to punch her. Savage said Perkins was then able to separate the two parties. The altercation reportedly took place in front of two children, ages 2 and 4.

Kemison was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released under the supervision of the probation department. The court signed a temporary order of protection directing Kemison to stay away from Perkins.
