RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT - MASSENA - A 21-year-old Massena mans traffic stop for a speeding violation turned into a reckless endangerment count after police determined his vehicles brakes were barely functioning.
Village police charged Josh J. Love of 139 Main St. with second-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving and ticketed him for speed in zone and operation of a vehicle with inadequate brakes.
Police said they initially observed Love speeding as he was making a turn onto Beach Street. They said he applied his brakes immediately after they turned their emergency lights on for the traffic stop but alleged it took Love three and a half blocks to bring his vehicle to a stop. He was released on an appearance ticket.
