Watertown police arrested a LaFargeville man early Monday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted another man in the 500 block of Olive Street.

Robert E. Brown, 34, of 35311 County Route 15, LaFargeville, is charged with third-degree assault.

His arrest at 12:15 a.m. on Bronson Street came about 15 minutes after police say he repeatedly punched Jonathan M. Belden, 27, of 802 Franklin St., in the face. Police said Mr. Belden had swelling around both eyes, a bump on the side of his head, and pain in his ribs and left shoulder.

Mr. Belden was treated and released at Samaritan Medical Center.
