James L. Compo


Calling hours for James L Compo, age 74, of White Hill Rd Parishville, will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Frary Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville at a later time. Mr. Compo passed away on May 20, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Compo is survived by his wife Carol; eight children, Sandra Mclean, Ellen Compo, Jimmy Compo, Rhonda Pierce, Michael Compo, Bernard Compo, Tina Compo all of Ogdensburg, NY and Margaret Compo of Schenectady, NY; four stepchildren, Mitch (Jackie) Wilson of Ohio, La Donna (Corey) Wilson of Parishville, Charlene (Brent) Bailey of Parishville, and Chandra (Mary) Wilson of Oswego, NY. He is also survived by many grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Anna Gemmill and Elsie Rabideau. Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Gemmill, three brothers, Pete, Floyd and Leo, and two sisters, Lois Remi and Margaret Savage.

Mr. Compo was born on August 2, 1937 in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of Leo and Violet Delorme Compo. He attended school at OFA. He married Carol Kittrell in 1982 in Parishville, NY. He worked for Kraft Foods as a lead man, Diamond National as a laborer, and the Ogdensburg Water Department as a laborer. Mr. Compo had various other jobs through the years. In 2008 he worked for the State Parks under the green thumb program which he really enjoyed.

Mr. Compo was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trappers. He enjoyed telling the tall tales that went along with each event. Jim always felt he should have been born in an early period of history. Jim was always at peace when he was in the woods or canoeing the river.

Donations may be made in his memory to St. Lawrence Valley Chapter of Hospice and the Parishville Rescue Squad.
