ONEIDA South Jefferson senior Ryan Clark shot a 76 and tied for first in the Section 3 Class B high school golf tournament at Kanon Valley Country Club on Monday.
Clark tied with Ilions Dan North for the first-place medal. The Spartans placed second with a 405 team score behind Westhill, who scored 401.
Three other Spartans qualified for the overall Section 3 championship. Brad LaLone shot an 80, while Pearce Parsons and Alex Hahn both fired an 81.
Chadd Call and Jake Wojasinski of General Brown qualified for the Thursdays tournament. Call shot a 77 to finish third.
The overall championship will be held at Seven Oakes at Colgate University in Hamilton on Thursday.
ALEXANDRIA TAKES CLASS D
Four Alexandria golfers qualified for the the overall tournament as they rolled to a team score of 429, which was 35 shots better than second place Cincinnatus.
Justin Ward finished with an 80 for the Purple Ghosts. Nik Shangraw, Nick Speach and Chris Strough also made the cut.
LaFargevilles Cody Black shot a 91 to qualify for Thursdays overall tournament.
SMITH ADVANCES
Ian Smith of Thousand Islands finished with an 83 at the Section 3 Class C tournament at Barker Brook Golf Course in Oriskany Falls, and is the only local participant from the event to qualify for Thursdays overall Section 3 championship.
Thousand Islands placed fifth in the 12-team field with a team score of 457. Herkimer finished at 414 to win the event.
PRICKETT MISSES QUALIFICATION
Watertown freshman Trevor Prickett fired an 86 at the Section 3 Class A Tournament at Radisson Greens in Baldwinsville, but finished one stroke shy of qualifying for Thursdays overall Section 3 tournament.
The Cyclones ranked sixth out of eight teams with a 492 team score. New Hartford finished first with 385.
SOFTBALL
LAFARGEVILLE 11, WATERTOWN 0
Amber Klock tossed a one-hit shutout as the Red Knights blanked the Cyclones in a nonleague game at Watertown.
Sam Smith and Lauren LaBiendo each scored three runs for LaFargeville (9-9). Chanelle Savage drove in a pair of runs.
Britney Ruiz had the lone hit for Watertown (3-14).
LACROSSE
CANTON 11, ST. LAWRENCE 10
Jesse Gilbert supplied four goals and an assist as Canton withstood a 30-minute weather delay and a St. Lawrence rally over the Larries in a Section 10 Class C semifinal in Canton.
Canton will take on Salmon River at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Class C title game.
Jack Elberty added a goal and three assists for the Golden Bears (13-4 overall), and Preston VanBibber and Mike Mathews added two goals apiece. Brandon Rodee and Eb Foote each finished with a goal and an assist.
Canton held an 11-3 advantage when a thunderstorm delayed the game for 30 minutes. St. Lawrence responded by rallying for the games next seven goals.
