BENCH WARRANT - BRASHER CENTER - Massena-based state police charged Lance J. Beaubien, 24, of 348 Upper Ridge Road, Brasher, with resisting arrest Tuesday afternoon at his residence.

Troopers said Beaubien physically resisted when they were attempting to take him into custody at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday on three active bench warrants from Massena courts.

He was arraigned on the charges by Massena Justice Eric J. Gustafson and was released after posting $100 bail on a third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle charge pending in Massena Town Court. He was directed to reappear Wednesday n Massena court and at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the resisting arrest count in Brasher Town Court.

The warrant from Massena Town Court alleged Beaubien had failed to appear in court on a third-degree AUO charge pending from a Dec. 10, 2011 traffic stop on state Route 37. That warrant was signed April 26 by Massena Justice James M. Crandall.

The two warrants from village court had been signed Feb. 21, 2012. He had been charged with third-degree AUO and ticketed for no inspection and failure to comply following an Aug. 13, 2011 traffic stop on North Main Street and with third-degree AUO and ticketed for operation of a vehicle with a distorted windshield and operation of an uninspected motor vehicle following an Aug. 6, 2011 traffic stop on Liberty Avenue.

Beaubien assured the court he had been in contact with his attorney in recent days after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

“I don’t have transportation here. I live way out in Brasher, and I’m not a very organized person. Other than these things, I haven’t been arrested in five years. I’m been trying real hard,” he said.



FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Dana J. Strzalka, 55, of Massena was ticketed for following too closely after she rearended a vehicle at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday on East Orvis Street at the corner of Bayley Road.



ENDANGERING THE WELFARE- CANTON - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Mark A. Cozino, 42, of 6258 Route 11, Lot 7, Canton, with endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies said the charge stemmed from a complaint Cozino had shown a pornographic movie to his underage daughter.

He was arraigned in Canton court and released under the supervision of the probation department. The court also issued a temporary no contact order of protection.
