POTSDAM - The Potsdam Central and Norwood-Norfolk Central boys and girls track teams all gained NAC wins over Gouverneur in a double-dual meet staged at the Potsdam course on Tuesday.
The host Sandstoners outscored Gouverneur 149-87 while N-N gained a 136-100 decision in the boys meet.
Potsdam dominated the first-place finishes. Tyler Belleau won the 100 in 11.4 seconds and the 400 in 54.2 seconds to emerge as the leading individual scorer for the Sandstoners. Ethan Vinson led both the 800 and 1,600 in respective times of 2:15.3 and 4:52.7 while Joe Bartlett captured the high jump at 56 and the triple jump at 384. Also scoring solo wins for Potsdam were Peter Clark in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:03.6, Taylor Dow in the long jump at 178, Oden Robertson in the 200 with a time of 24.2 seconds and Jacob Moose in the shot put at 399.5.
The Sandstoners also won all three relays. Belleau, Robertson, Ifem Ononye and Tom Hobbs paced the 400 in 46.3 seconds. Belleau, Robertson and Clark combined with Taylor Prosper to lead the 1,600 in 4:04.5. Vinson and Bartlett teamed up with Ethan Kelly and Ebuka Ononye to capture the 3,200 in 8:24.6.
Josh Eng paced the individual 3,200 in 10:29.3 and Preston Mason claimed discus honors at 122 to account for the two N-N wins.
The Potsdam girls posted a 165-129 win over Gouverneur while N-N scored 167.5-129.5 decision.
Maddie Dreschel led Potsdam with wins in the 100 (13.3 seconds), the 200 (28.3 seconds and the long jump (145.5). Madi Dow paced both the 800 (2:30.8) and the 1,500 (5:19.9) and Tiffani Love claimed high jump honors at 46 to account for the other solo first produced by the Lady Sandstoners, who swept the three relay races as well.
Dreschel and Dow also combined with Kalli Bartlett and Kate Hildreth to lead the 400 relay in 56.3 seconds. Love, Bonnie Smyth, Katie Pierce and Hildreth won the 1,600 relay in 4:51. Love, Smyth and Dow teamed up with Marie Amell to pace the 3,200 relay in 11:18.9.
For the Lady Flyers, Brianna Hayes won the 400 in 1:04.5 and Alexis Sweet captured the triple jump at 307.
MEET AT MASSENA
At Massena Central, the host Raiders swept Clifton-Fine but were swept by Franklin Academy.
In the boys meet, Taylor Brown won the 110 hurdles in 17.7 seconds and Lucas Benedict paced the 400 hurdles in 1:02.2 to account for the two individuals firsts posted by the host Raiders. The foursome of Andrew Brush, Robert Cameron, Cody Coggshell and Collin Jacobs won the 400 relay in 47.7 seconds. Cameron also combined with Zach Fregoe, Carlos Menchon and Kyle Nicholson to capture the 1,600 relay in 3:57.9.
The girls meet saw the host Lady Raiders manage a pair of first-place efforts as Jacalyn Lamica won the 200 in 28.1 seconds and Waheson Lazore claimed the high jump at 410.
