CANTON — Can-Am Youth Services, which does business as Rose Hill, will return to St. Lawrence County an overpayment it mistakenly received.

The St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators approved a contract Monday with Rose Hill for it to immediately return $80,000 that it received as part of state aid funding. Rose Hill, an adolescent drug and alcohol treatment center in Massena, will pay back the remaining balance of $72,710 to the county at a rate of $4,040 per month for 18 months at no interest.

“They sat down with Rose Hill and figured out a way to get the money back without them going out of business,”said Legislator Frederick S. Morrill, D-DeKalb Junction, chairman of the county Finance Committee.
