St. Lawrence NYSARC started its public transportation Monday.
The schedule is still being tweaked and a website is not expected to go live for several weeks. Anyone with questions about the bus system may call NYSARC at 379-9531 and ask for public transportation.
NYSARC hosted a series of public forums last week and will probably repeat the sessions in four months.
There werent a lot of people there but enough to demonstrate interest, Executive Director Daphne A. Pickert said. Were trying to get as much public input as we can.
After budgetary constraints convinced the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators to end the public transportation service it had with the state Department of Transportation and Roethel Coach Lines, Ogdensburg, it agreed to have NYSARC run a public system on runs it operates for its clients. NYSARC has about 30 routes that go to approximately 40 sites.
A ride will cost $2.
