CANTON — Former Union College goalie Kris Mayotte was hired as an assistant coach for the St. Lawrence University men’s hockey team Tuesday.

Mayotte, who played at Union from 2002-06, spent last season as a volunteer assistant coach for Cornell. After playing for Union he played for Lowell, Bridgeport, Hershey and Adirondack in the American Hockey League. He also played for San Diego, Fresno and Johnstown of the East Coast Hockey League, as well as Arizona of the Central Hockey League in a five-year career.

Mayotte, a native of Pittsburgh, was a full-time goalie coach in 2010-11 in Maryland and spent time as a part-time instructor prior to that.
