THERESA An Evans Mills woman was taken to a Syracuse hospital late Thursday after her car collided head-on with a pickup that was involved in drag racing, according to state police.
Kayla N. Guillermo, 19, of 8785 N. Main St., suffered injuries to both legs, troopers said, and was taken to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. No information was available Friday from the hospital about her condition.
Police said her car collided at 10:50 p.m. with a truck driven by Bret N. Staie, 17, of 35380 Snell Road, who was driving in her lane while attempting to pass another truck driven by Wayne Aldrich, 18, of 38583 County Route 21. The Aldrich vehicle was not involved in the crash, police said.
The two men were charged with participating in an unauthorized speed contest and driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent, and Mr. Staie, for whom no injury was listed, additionally was cited with passing in a no-passing zone.
