MASSENA – Mrs. BettyAnn Gilson, 92 formerly of McKinley Ave, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Demay Living Center in Newark, New York, where she had been a resident for the past week. Betty moved to the Newark area in December to be near her sons.

Betty was born April 20, 1920, in Buffalo the daughter of the late Edward H. and Mildred Chase Sprickman. She attended schools in Buffalo. On May 19, 1943 she married Walter R. Gilson at Fort Meade, Maryland. They moved to Massena in 1948. Walt predeceased her on May 17, 1980.

Betty was a homemaker and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, having recently received her 40 year pin for dedicated volunteerism. She was a member of the Massena Grange #704 and an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the crafters group. She enjoyed knitting and visiting with her many friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen D. and Anne Gilson of Macedon; and Gregory B. Gilson of Palmyra; two grandsons, Paul and Tyrel; and four great grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla, Breanna, and Megan. She is also survived her brother, Roger Sprickman of California.

She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Sprickman and two sisters, June Francis and Rhea Goldsberry.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeffery V. Aiosa, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton.
