OCP taps Wayne Ramsey for Franky Award

Wayne R. Ramsey is this year’s recipient of Ogdensburg Command Performances’ Franky Award.

The Franky, named in honor of OCP founder Frank Schwartz, is presented to an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond for OCP during the year.

“It’s a great honor,” said Mr. Ramsey. “I enjoy what I do. I am out there for every show making sure everything is good and I love every minute of it.”

Mr. Ramsey has worked as audio-visual coordinator for Ogdensburg City School District for 33 years, and OCP for 15 years.

“Wayne helps make sure that all evening performances go off without a hitch,” said OCP marketing director Amee Longbottom. “He helps the traveling companies make the most out of the facilities and makes sure their lights and sound work seamlessly with the auditorium.”

Mr. Ramsey also assists OCP with the Youtheatre: Class Act shows for students.

“Those smaller shows often use more of the on site systems, and Mr. Ramsey is always happy to help the companies with any questions they may have,” said Mrs. Longbottom. “OCP knows that it can count on Mr. Ramsey and thank him for all he has done over the years.”

Over the years, Mr. Ramsey said his position with OCP has never been dull.

“I have had the opportunity to meet many different people,” he said. “I had to opportunity to take my picture with Vicky Lawrence and meet several actors, singers and dancers. But you meet a lot of people, too, and the majority of them are nice people to work with.”

Mr. Ramsey said he looks forward to continuing his service with the 2012-2013 season.

“OCP has some amazing shows coming up this year,” he said. “It’s going to be OCP’s 50th anniversary season, so it should be bigger and better than ever. We’re all looking forward to it.”
