PRESCOTT, ARI. - Chalk up 11 state records and two world Raw Power Lifting records for Prescott, Arizona resident and former Ogdensburg native William Deloney.
Competiting in the Southwest Region Power Lifting competition on March 31 and April 1 at Flip City Gym where 130 competitors took part, Deloney was very impressive in the events of the Strict Curl, Deadlift, Squat and Bench Press and now holds an impressive 23 records in two age brackets and weight classes.
I contribute my succcess to clean living, hard work in the gym, a good diet, and great training from Paul Gillott, of the Scrap Iron Gym, and trainer Scott Tomitz, said Deloney.
Deloney, competed in the 60-64 division for 181 lbs on March 31 and 198 lb class on April 1. Qualifying at the top of your weight class allows the competitor to move up.
On March 31st, Deloney curled 110 lbs. in the 181 lb division for a Raw Powerlifting Federation state record. Deloney benched 303lb. for a World Single Lift and Full Power Bench Press Raw Powerlifting Federation World Records.
I set all three lifts set state records including my total of 1003 lbs on March 31st, said Deloney. I deadlifted 402lbs. and Squatted 297 lbs. for new state records too.
In April 1st competition at 198lbs., Deloney was equally impressive moving up. Deloney benched 314 for a Bench Press State Record, Deadlifted 402lb. and Squatted 297lbs for new state marks at the weight class. He followed with a 110 curl for a state mark.
Deloney plans to compete in the American Challenge on June 23 in Cottonwood, Arizona.
