CANTON - The magnificent venue of the Merrick-Pinkard Track-Field Complex at St. Lawrence University will host the first edition of the two-day Section 10 Track-Field Championships on Wednesday and Thursday.
The action will begin at 4 p.m. and is expected to last just over two hours on both days.
On Wednesday the finals will be held for the Girls 2000 steeplechase, the boys 3000 steeplechase, the girls 1500 and the boys 1600 runs, the boys and girls long jump and the boys and girls discus throw. Also held Wednesday will be the hurdles race for the boys and girls outdoor pentathlon and the freshman girls 1500 and boys 1600 runs.
Trials for the boys and girls 100, 200 and 4000 dashes will be held Wednesday setting the stage for Thursdays action which will be composed entirely of championship competition.
We are really excited about this format. Those attending will see championship competition on both days. Thursday should be outstanding because there will be no trials just finals, said Canton Central Boys Track-Field Coach Bill Porter.
The action on both days should take just over two hours and the action will be fast moving each days.
