ARREST WARRANT - POTSDAM - Village police took Christopher G. Russell, 27, of Bombay into custody on an arrest warrant at 5:40 a.m. Monday. He was picked up on an arrest warrant that had been issued by Potsdam Village Court by Malone-based state police earlier Monday. He was arraigned by Potsdam Village Justice Nicholas Pignone and released on his own recognizance.The warrant had been issued in February 2011 and stemmed from Russell’s failure to appear in court as directed on driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle charges stemming from a March 31, 2009 traffic stop. Russell reportedly has been incarcerated for much of the past severa years in the Jefferson County jail and in state prison. According to the state’s Department of Correctional Services and Community Supervision website, Russell was last released from prison in August 2011. He had been sentenced to three to six years in state prison for a second-degree criminal sex act conviction and initially entered state prison in March 2007.



DWAI DRUGS - Village police charged Robin B. Bercume, 48, of Potsdam with driving while ability impaired by drugs following a traffic stop at 8:22 p.m. Monday in the Canton-Potsdam Hospital parking lot. Police said patrols responded to a complaint filed by a CPH employee reporting a female visiting a patient iappeared to impaired and was having difficulty walking. The suspect then left the hospital and got into her vehicle and began driving away. Patrols intercepted the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking to Bercume, patrols suspected her of being under the influence of a drug. Bercume was taken into custody and was transported to the Potsdam Police Department, where a drug evaluation was conducted confirming that she was under the influence of a drug.

0440 Malone-based state police advise they have a subject in custody for a warrant out of Potsdam Village Court. Subject was transported to the Potsdam Police Department by the state police, arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

1021 Potsdam Rescue dispatched to a call

1035 Potsdam resident reports his ATM card is missing.

1324 Patrol dispatched to alarm activation at the animal shelter.

1336 Equipment inspection done for NYSP summons returnable to Parishville Town Court for a town of Potsdam resident.

1912 Report of a landlord/tenant dispute on Maple Street. Patrols responded and further investigation revealed that the suspect was Brian E. Francis, 22, and that he was wanted by Tribal PD on a bench warrant. Francis was taken into custody and was held at the Potsdam Police Department where he was later picked up by an officer from Tribal PD.

2000 Reckless driving complaint on Market Street. The suspect was located, and investigation continues.
