CANTON Fort La Presentation Co. has filed a $150,000 lawsuit in state Supreme Court alleging that its neighbors are creating a nuisance.
The lawsuit charges Rhonda and Blair Roethel with trespassing and encroaching on property the fort owns. According to the lawsuit, the fort company is trying to revitalize waterfront property on the St. Lawrence River.
Fort officials also have said they are trying to promote green space restoration, build an interpretive center, reconstruct a historic fort and re-create a Native American village from the Colonial era.
The Roethels are accused of storing boats, cars and snowmobile equipment on property the fort owns. They also are accused of not responding to letters dated August 2010 and March 2011.
The fort, represented by John L. Barone, Albany, also is asking for attorney fees.
