U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer announced today that MetalCraft Marine, a custom aluminum boat manufacturer, has been awarded an $818,901 federal contract with the United States Coast Guard for up to 10 long-range interceptor boats for deployment on the National Security Cutter.
According to a news release from the senators office, these state-of-the-art vessels will be crafted in part at MetalCraft Marines new location in Cape Vincent.
Metalcraft, based in Kingston, Ontario, last fall moved its U.S. branch from Clayton to a larger facility on East Broadway in Cape Vincent, owing to an increased demand for its high-speed aluminum fire, patrol and work boats.
