The city will flush out fire hydrants next week between 6 and 9 p.m.
Some residents may experience discolored water due to sediment being stirred up within water lines. Water necessary for essentials such as cooking and drinking should be drawn prior to 6 p.m. and set aside.
Laundering and bathing is not recommended during this time period. Should discoloration be experienced, please allow faucets to run until water clarity returns to normal.
Hydrants will be flushed throughout the city on the following schedule:
Monday: South down the west side of Albany Avenue from Main St. to Ogden St., then proceeding west to the United Helpers RiverLedge facility and including all areas north to the St. Lawrence River.
Tuesday: South down the east side of Albany Avenue from Main St. to Ogden St., including all areas east to the Oswegatchie River and north to the St. Lawrence River.
Wednesday: Starting at Ogden Street, south to Gates T. and all areas east to the Oswegatchie River. Also included are Ford Avenue from Gates St. south to Spruce St.
Thursday: South from Gates Treet to Cedar Street including all areas east to Mansion Avenue. Also included is the area from Spruce St. south to Cedar St. and all areas east to New York Avenue.
Friday: South down Caroline Ave starting at the St. Lawrence River and continuing to Jay Street, including all areas west to the Oswegatchie River.
