CICERO Andrew Russell and Michael Lopresti of Watertown each earned state berths by capturing events at the Section 3 track and field qualifier on Thursday at Cicero-North Syracuse high school.
State competition is scheduled for June 8-9 at the same location.
Russell recorded a throw of 148 feet, 5 inches, in the Division I discus, while Lopresti cleared a height of 13 feet in the pole vault.
Indian Rivers Rayshan Clark is also state-bound. He finished first in the Division I long jump with a leap of 23-2 3/4.
GIRLS
PASTOR TO DEFEND TITLE
Skylar Pastor of South Jefferson is set to defend her Division II state title in the 400-meter dash. She captured first place with a time of 57.80 seconds at the Section 3 qualifier at Cicero-North Syracuse.
Other local state qualifiers include Kylee Bartlett of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown, who won the Division II pentathlon with a score of 2,986 points, and Sara Young of South Lewis, who finished second in the Division II pole vault with a state-qualifying height of 10 feet.
