BALMAT - An 18-year-old Fowler man is dead after being run over in his driveway by another teen leaving his residence Friday night.

St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported car-pedestrian accident at 10:47 p.m, Friday at 4127 Route 58 in the town of Fowler.

Deputies said TylerW. Sargent, 18,of 1235 Route 11, Gouverneur, was leaving the residence and didnot see James W. Gore, 18, of 4127 Route 58, lie down on the ground in front of the vehicle.

Mr. Sargent drove over Mr. Gore, and Mr. Gore was trapped under the vehicle.

Deputies were unavailable for comment on why Mr. Gore laid in front of the vehicle.

Deputies said county Coroner June H. Wood responded to the accident scene.

They also said alcohol is not believed to be involved in the accident, and the investigation is continuing.

The sheriff’s department was assisted on scene by state police, and Gouverneur fire and rescue.
